this group still shows 2 new messages in their forum even though they were deleted http://www.redbubble.com/groups/black-and-white-photography-challenges/forums/7136

If you read any (can be old ones) of the groups messages the unread messages indicators will be adjusted.

jo..... i am really looking for a response from admin here. this is a bug. if you read what i wrote, it is IMPOSSIBLE to read any of the messages as they were deleted by the hosts almost immediately.

Dana,
Fair enough to point it out to RB admin.
My point: the blue New message counter in the My groups part of the screen (on the right ) can be lowered by reading old messages. For example if you go into the messages of a group where the indicator behind the group says 5 new messages and you read an old message you total for the blue New message counter will be lowered with 5 and the link behind the group (also in the My groups part of the screen) will be gone. The indicator doesn't really keep track what new messages have been read.

yes, i understand, but as i said, that is not the current problem. the problem is that the messages CANNOT be accessed in any way as they have been deleted, yet the new message indicator won't go away

Let me kick this one to the top.
My theory: The New message counter uses the New messages feed to calculate the counter. Is doesn't check the number of actual unread messages in the groups. That is why it is a problem if hosts delete one of their group messages.

Hi Dana,
I've alerted the tech team to this. They will get to it when they can.

This problem should be fixed with our next release - you will be able to Zero your Group Messages count by clicking on the blue flag when it appears in MyBubble.
Cheers,
