Hi. I have successfully uploaded numerous t-shirt designs in the past. I have used the same exact method from your guidelines to upload designs using the Redbubble shirt template.

Unfortunately, some designs went through correctly and others have not. Some appear to have a black (dark gray) background behind the actual design. I find it very inconsistent and irritating that my designs go through only half of the time. Again, I have used the same exact method to upload the designs, but some have a black background. I have tried multiple fixes (including deleting the first layer, importing the design file over as an illustrator file - photoshop file - or even a png file).

How am I supposed to remedy this?

it's a bug on our end - that we're trying to track down. do your designs use pure white as the single colour (this may be when the grey background appears)?
    thanks,

The design is purely text based and I'm setting it with the color white FFFFFF. I would assume that is pure white.

Is #FFFFFF considered to be pure white or is that some technical term for something else? Do I have to change the white to a slightly different shade in order to avoid the grey background that appears?

    Hi machadorido,
you are correct, #FFFFFF is considered pure white, and yes it seems you need to change it slightly to avoid the upload errors. I ran some tests today and it seems that if your design is either pure white #ffffff or pure black # 000000 and nothing else, you will most likely see this, pure white or this, pure black.

If you change your white slightly to something like #fefefe which on the RGB scale is R254 G254 B254 it should upload like this, # fefefe and if you change your black slightly, I used # 010000 or R1 G0 B0 it should upload like this # 010000

I can't guarantee that this will work for others but it seems to for me. So until this bug is squished this seems to be a good workaround. I'll certainly be glad to avoid the black rectangle of death. I'm not surprised I saw it so much now, seeing as most of my designs are silhouette in either pure white or black. Doh!

Thank you again Peter for your quick response. It was your query about pure white/black as a single colour that got me on the right track.

    All the best

    Jordan.

Thanks so much Jordan! I just notice now that I shouldn't have made this thread and just contributed to yours. Oops. But, thanks so much again. I'll be sure to make the changes. Crossing my fingers.

No problem machadorido, I hope it works for you too!
I forgot to mention, it seems like you can use pure white or black as long as there is another colour in the design. For example you could use pure white AND pure black in the same design and it seem to upload fine. Using pure black and a random colour seem to work fine too.
Even using just one pixel of another colour in your designs seems to work. In this case I have uploaded the same BMX silhouette I was having problems with, made using solid black # 000000, with the only change being the addition of 1 pixel of rich black # 010000.

We have implemented a test and we're currently testing it. If all goes well we'll release this on Thursday.
