When do I get paid? Why haven't I yet been paid?

Once a month we sit down with the accountant and a nice cup of tea and process all eligible artist payments in one big batch.

  • We usually make payments during the second week of each month, allowing time for orders to be manufactured and shipped. At this time, we pay for shipped sales made up until the end of the previous month if you have made over the minimum amount for your chosen payment type. (For example, If you make over the minimum amount for payment by the end of this current month, you will be paid next month.)

  • If a sale was made before the end of the previous month but has not yet shipped, this will be paid the next eligible month the minimum amount has been reached

  • If an order has not yet shipped, it is not yet payable. If an order is cancelled or identified as fraudulent before it ships, it will not be payable.

What are my payment options?

  • You can elect to be paid by bank transfer, PayPal, or by cheque depending on your country of residence. You can see which option you have chosen or change your selection in your account settings. Please also note that PayPal may have certain restrictions in some countries.

  • PayPal payments will be made after you have accrued at least AU$20 (or equivalent in USD GBP, Euro, or CAD) in earnings.

  • Cheques can be made in USD, AUD and GBP only, and will be posted after you have accrued at least AU$100 (or equivalent in USD or GBP) in earnings. Cheques will be made out to your 'real name' as it appears on the edit your profile page and posted to your address as listed in your account. It is all artists' responsibility to ensure 'real names' and postal addresses are correct at all times. If your name or address is incorrect and we post an incorrect cheque, we may need to deduct the stop-cheque fee charged by the bank from the payment amount.

  • Bank Transfers are only available for payment to Australian bank accounts in AUD once you have accrued at least AU$20.

  • Your earnings will continue to roll over each month until they reach these minimum values.

  • We are currently not able to transfer unpaid earnings into RedBubble credit or vouchers. You can suggest a new idea or vote for an existing one here: http://feedback.redbubble.com.

  • We are currently not able to transfer sales from one user account to another.

  • We will send an itemised remittance advice to your listed email address when making a payment, or in the mail with your cheque.

  • Once you choose a currency in which to be paid, it cannot be changed.

  • Some artists choose to have their earnings directly donated to a charity of their choice. You can read more about this here.

My payment was smaller / larger than I expected

  • If you accrued any earnings between the first day of the month and when we sit down to make payments, these earnings will roll over into the next payment cycle. So don't panic if your payment seems a few dollars short. Check the dates in your sales history. If there are a few un-paid sales from the start of the current month, you'll get paid for them next time.

  • If you have made sales on the last day of the month, sometimes due to time zone differences these may be recognised in the following month's payment.

  • Your sales history does not show previous payments, so you may have already be paid for some of those earlier sales. We send a remittence advice each time a payment is made to you for your own tax and bookkeeping.

  • Your sales history will also not display any sales you've made to yourself while you have been logged in, as you do not earn mark up from these self-purchases.

  • If an order is cancelled before it was manufactured and shipped, it will not be paid. An easy rule of thumb is that no sale is payable until you receive the second email titled "Here's the Receipt From Your RedBubble Sale!".

  • The artist margin for each sale may differ depending on the buyer's delivery address, or applicable bulk discounts. You can read all about base prices, how artist margins are calculated, and bulk discounts here

Something doesn't look right

If you haven't been paid as expected, as a first step, please double-check the payment information you have provided. If this information is incorrect, please update it immediately.

Payments that were sent to an incorrect bank or PayPal account will be returned to us after 30 days, and will be paid in the next pay period after that time to the details. This is an automatic process and you do not need to contact us.

If you've confirmed your payment information is correct, and you've not been paid for orders that have shipped in the previous month/s, you can always contact us here or by replying to a sales notification email.

For a speedy investigation, please include your account user name, confirm that you have received both the sales notification email and the second email for the sale/s in question, and a screen shot of your sales history as you see it, sorted by time, in order to help us see what you see.

I wish to be paid early

To request an early payment, you can contact us with your full real name and username, noting that you understand and agree to the US$5 (or equivalent) manual early payment fee for the manual processing. Special request payments may take up to 7 days.

Account closure and final payment

If your account is closed, it's best to wait a reasonable period for all pending sales to ship before contacting us to request your final payment. You'll know when all of your pending sales have been finalised and are eligible for payment when you receive the second email regarding that order titled "Manufacturing Receipt".
